'The Exit'

Ecstasy of the Sandhill Cranes

This pair performing their mating dance are posed to reference Bernini's Ecstasy of Saint Teresa. Through using religious iconography and language I imbue the species with reverence and a sense of awe. Sandhill cranes are but one species of dozens that have been positively impacted by the reintroduction of wolves into the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The wolves have cause a beneficial trophic cascade that reaches all levels of wildlife and even plants that cohabitate their native range.
